You have a choice about how much “strength” you give the things that are bothering you. There are, in fact, only three types of trouble
You can choose to let go of - and learn from - each of them!
Troubles of the past -
Did you do the best you could with the knowledge and resources you had? Then stop cringing every time that memory comes up. You’re the only one who is remembering it that way. No one else is carrying the memory the same way. Make amends if you need to and most important, learn from what happened. You’re a different person now!
Troubles of the present -
If you recognize that today is just a snapshot on a timeline continuum, then you can acknowledge that the “today” of two years ago doesn’t really linger. Today’s troubles, two years down the road won’t feel quite as severe. So, do what needs to be done, learn, get the resources you need, and keep moving forward.
Troubles of the Future -
What a beautiful waste of great imagination… we catastrophize, thinking about the outcome being the worst possible scenario when we could be thinking about what it might be like if everything not only worked out okay, but worked out amazingly well!
Whatever trouble you’re carrying, you’re the only person carrying it. It’s your perspective that colors the situation as such. What if… what if you chose a different perspective and knew that things were going to be better than just okay?
They are, you know. Choice is power!
