One Sharp Sword - Cutting Through To What Matters Most with Dr Wayne Pernell is meant to be thought-provoking and inspiring.

This show offers no advice or counsel related to law, finance, or health (either physical or mental).  You are listening at your own discretion and interpreting what you hear in your own way.  This show is meant for entertainment purposes and no claims of enhancement or enrichment of any sort are indicated or implied.  Nope, this show doesn’t promise to make you better looking.  But hey… look at you now!  Listen in!  Enjoy!

Bob Lee is an author and international speaker.  He’s the CEO of TrustLabs, based in the UK.  On today’s show, we talk about leadership and management and the core teachings from his book, Trust Rules.

  • Investing in employees isn’t wasting money; in fact, treating people well is essential.
  • Perks and benefits don’t make the workplace great; Building Trust and genuine Relationships do.
  • As a leader, be habitually available.  Having an open door doesn’t always mean approachable.
  • Keep the small promises - “I’ll get back to you” means just that.
  • Everyone is a leader. (Not everyone is in a position to manage.)
  • Treating everyone equally is NOT treating everyone fairly.
  • Feedback has come to be such a negative word, but really it’s positive, negative, or focused on some improvement.
  • Having fun at work means that you’re relaxed and essentially the same person at home and at work.  Being relaxed equates with providing better service.
  • Control the controllables.  Let go of what you can’t.
  • Don’t judge people by their appearances.
    • Fun exercise during introductions: state who you are, where you’re from, and something surprising.
  • Trust becomes grown in the culture.
