After seeing Amelia speak on a virtual stage, I invited her to join me here. She’s a speaker, actor, entrepreneur, and mom of two. She created the Be Happy Business as a way of infusing more happiness into all aspects of life.

Here, we talk about mindset and personal development through the eyes of an actor. The closing line of her speech was, “It doesn’t get more real than what an actor does.”

Fascinating, right?

Key points you’ll get from this interview:

  • Life unfolds much differently from what you plan
  • You must engage in personal development because your business will only grow as much as you do.
  • An actor receives a story and then asks different questions to create the character that the story demands. You can do the same in your life. “We need to practice differently and not just accept the default.”
  • Actors create a moment that changes that moment.
  • Actors problem solve differently because their relationship with time is different.
  • Find your energy, wield that energy, and fine-tune that energy. Amelia notes, “We’re always fine-tuning the stories in rehearsal.” She goes on, speaking about personal growth, “We’re often rehearsing unhelpful stories.”
  • Changing the questions you ask will change the stories you have and the results you get. The answer is in the question.
  • Humans thrive on being in discovery.

She has a couple of great concepts around De-adulting, noting that actors play!

Being in a playful state is where creativity lies.
